🥋 Important Update: Dojo Code of Conduct & Policies
At Jin Wu Koon Byron Bay, we are proud to be a branch of the JWK Academy in Sydney, training under the lineage and standards established by Sifu Chan Cheuk Fai.
To maintain the discipline and integrity that JWK is known for across Australia and to ensure our dojo remains a place of respect and tradition, we are highlighting the following core rules. By participating in classes at JWK Byron Bay, all students and guardians agree to abide by these standards:
1. Respect for the Lineage (Etiquette)
Respect is the first lesson of JWK Karate. Students must show proper respect to Sensei and fellow students. This includes:
Bowing upon entering and leaving the dojo
Addressing instructors by their proper titles.
Following instructions promptly and without disruption.
2. Traditional Uniform (Dogi) Policy
The uniform represents our collective identity and respect for the art.
White Gi Only: All students must wear a clean, standard white JWK dogi with the appropriate JWK badge.
3. Training and Tuition
To ensure the sustainability of our classes and focus on training:
Pre-Payment Required: Training is only permitted once tuition fees have been paid in full. Payments must be settled prior to the start of the term or class.
Students who have not settled their dues will not be permitted on the mats until their account is current.
4. Commitment to the Code
By training at Jin Wu Koon Byron Bay, students and guardians acknowledge that they are part of the wider JWK family and agree to uphold these standards.
We thank our dedicated students who continue to train with the humility and discipline that JWK has stood for since 1974. Failure to adhere to these rules or the spirit of the dojo may result in a student being asked to leave the program.
Continued attendance at classes constitutes an agreement to these terms.
